Review

An analysis of the literature on the subject allows us to identify the most frequent complications. These are:
1. Wear
2. Aseptic loosening
3. Recurrent dislocation

The use of cementless implants, hard-hard friction couples and dislocation prevention techniques tend to decrease these complications.
Dislocation prevention techniques include:
1. Large diameter femoral heads
2. Tapered prosthesis necks (small diameter)
3. Reproduction of the correct musculo-ligamentary tension (muscular
balance)
4. Orientation of the implants |
